High Speed Tecmo League

HSTL Rules:

  • Record all games, take snapshots of all finish screens, save the state, and send all files to hstlstats@gmail.com.
Winner is responsible for sending in files.
Loser might want to send in files for insurance purposes, based on my experience, this is a good idea,
as you only get credit for playing the game when the .sta is uploaded.

  • There is no rule against milking the clock, just be considerate of others.

  • No player with a jersey number in the 80s will be allowed to take a handoff on a run play.
The exception to this is reverses.  Any WR or RB can carry the ball on a reverse.

  • No Lurching.  Lurching is using a defensive lineman (either NT or a DE) to dive at the QB or
RB directly after the snap.   No lurching of any sort is allowed in the HSTL.
Possible violations will be reviewed by those in charge.
Violators will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
Being forced to forfeit a lurch-induced win is not out of the question.

  • To prevent lurching, a defensive lineman (either NT or a DE) cannot touch the QB until said
defensive lineman has grappled with and subsequently thrown an offensive player
(this does not include bumping an existing grapple).
The only exception to this rule is if the defensive lineman originally starts running
away from the line of scrimmage. In this scenario, the defensive lineman can rush the QB
without penalty. However, the defensive lineman may not dive at the QB.
The right to modify this rule in midseason is reserved if somehow a loophole is
    discovered and abused.

  • If the NT goes straight in without going backwards (not pausing or going vertically)
and touches the QB, a replay of the game can be called by the opponent or the game may be forfeited
    (depending on the circumstances).

  • On play-action passes, anything goes. HSTL suggests you don't use play-action passes.

  • Use of fourth man down on PATs is legal.
Use of fourth man down on FGs is forbidden.

  • Onsides kicks are legal if you are losing by more than 7 points at any point,
or if you are losing at any time during the second half, or tied in the 4th Q or OT.
You are to punt at anytime you obtain an onsides kick without meeting these standards.

  • Do not tackle players in the end zone after the play has ended. The reason for this is that
the statistics  for that play will be erased if the offensive player happens to fumble.
If you just can't help yourself, you may remedy this by abstracting the stats yourself,
correcting them yourself, and then sending them in or uploading them yourself.
some people care more about stats than others, do unto others.

  • After the game you must allow a reasonable amount of time for your opponent to get a save state and snap of the game summary screen.
